It was a beautiful day at Uptown Station – perfect for a Flag Raising Ceremony to celebrate the 4th July.
An honor guard formed by members of the Fort Walton Beach Police and Fire Departments in full dress uniform solemnly walked the giant 50′ x 80′ Stars and Stripes down Central Park and as the breeze began to take the flag, Emerald Coast Legends winner, Tanya Short sang the National Anthem.
A large crowd gathered to salute the Flag and to applaud Tanya, who was presented with a bouquet of flowers and mobbed by young fans.
Everyone at Uptown Station wishes you a happy 4th July.
The next Flag Raising is September 11th – Patriot Day.

Love to see/hear a video of the singing of the National Anthem on July 2.

We would love to have that too. The Daily News planned to have a videographer make a movie of Tanya singing the National Anthem, but at the last moment he was called to another story. We didn’t have time to arrange a substitute. We know that someone did take a movie, so we’ll try and get hold of that.
We did mention to Tanya that we’d like her to sing the National Anthem at future Flag Raising Ceremonies this year, so we’ll see if that can be arranged.
