Title: Patriot’s Day Freedom Bell Dedication
Location: Central Park at Uptown Station
Description: The Veteran’s Tribute Tower Board of Directors is pleased to announce the casting of the 250-pound bronze Freedom Bell that will hang in honor of all veterans at Beal Memorial Cemetery.
On Thursday, September 11, at 8:46—the exact time the first plane hit the North Tower on this date in 2001, the mold will be broken and the newly cast bell will be released.
At noon, the bell will be dedicated and presented to the community, and will be rung for the first time.
This forming, pouring and casting of the 250-pound bell will take place under the Great Flag at Uptown Station under the direction of the Verdin Company. This exciting community event will also be educational—providing an opportunity to see the historic process of casting bronze, which has been the hallmark of the Verdin Company since 1842.
